Drugs found in rivers, and may be in our drinking water
Powerful antibiotics and other drugs may be in our drinking water, scientists fear. Rivers, lakes, and wells throughout North America, Europe and East Asia are already contaminated by a range of pharmaceutical drugs. And scientists fear they could easily make their way into the public water supply.Antibiotics, antimicrobials and antifungals have all been found in waterways throughout the three continents – usually because they have either been flushed down toilets or used on agricultural land.
Researchers from the University of Montreal in Canada found three classes of antibiotic – macrolides, quinolones and sulfonamides – and trimethoprim, for urinary infections, in water they analysed. These drugs can build antibiotic resistance in bacteria – so creating the ‘superbugs’ - affect life in the waterways, and also make their way into the public water supply, says lead researcher Sebastien Sauve. Drugs in Water: A cocktail is in our drinking water
A cocktail of pharmaceutical drugs – including antibiotics, anti-convulsants and mood stabilizers – is in the public water supply in the USA and the UK. Up to 100 different drugs have been detected in our water supply, and in reservoirs, lakes and rivers.
While the amounts are very low, scientists are worried that they may still have a detrimental effect. “These are chemicals that are designed to have very specific effects at very low concentrations. That’s what pharmaceuticals do. So when they get out to the environment, it should not be a shock to people that they have effects,” says zoologist John Sumpter at Brunel University in London.
The drugs are getting into the water supply from human waste and from people who are throwing away the drugs unused. Anabolic steroids, which are put into cattle to pump them up, are also getting into our drinking water.
Scientists are concerned that the drugs could be made more toxic by the chlorine that is increasingly being introduced into the public water supply.
A new report in America has discovered that at least 41 million homes throughout the States are regularly drinking water that is laced with a vast cocktail of drugs. The water supply in 24 metropolitan areas, including Southern California, Northern New Jersey, Detroit and Louisville, has been contaminated.
None of the existing filtration plants has been designed to eliminate drugs, and the same may also go for the standard home filter systems. Reverse osmosis is the only technology that can remove traces of pharmaceuticals, but it is too expensive for water companies to install for large-scale filtration.

Ninety percent of the people who come to see me do so for emotional pain. Many of these people have tried several methods of dealing with their pain.
Seeing a counselor or therapist may help so you can talk about your pain without someone judging you. They often will give you assignments such as writing in a journal or meditating etc. They often will prescribe medications to help numb the pain while you work through the process.
Continually staying on drugs that numb your pain does not address the underlying cause. I once read a very informative book: Feelings Buried Alive Never Die. The author, Karol K. Truman, says that the most difficult thing to communicate, especially to ourselves, is feelings. What one person may label sad, another may express as anger.
I absolutely love Dr. Daniel Amen’s answer about negative feelings: He relates that first there is a thought, and that thought determines our feelings, and that feeling determines our attitude etc. So, to stop this merry go round one must first examine: How Does that thought make me feel? And if you don’t like the feeling, you ask: How would I feel if I didn’t have that thought? And if your answer is happy or some other positive emotion, then the next step is to think about that which makes you feel happy because-- thoughts LIE!
Most of the time what we think isn’t true. We assume!

| It makes no sense to me to take a fiber supplement that has dyes and artificial sweeteners in it. Fake coloring does not have a beneficial effect on the body. Yet, most doctors recommend Metamucil as a fiber supplement. This product is loaded with junk. The main ingredient in the original blend is psyllium husks. This part of the plant is very irritating to the colon.
Psyllium hulls are easier on the internal tissues of the colon, swell better to remove toxins and yet are more costly to produce. Husks are what we generally throw away when we shuck corn. Think of the hull as the fiberous part of the seed that doesn’t digest. The seed is the inner part of the corn and has the most nutrition. The same with psyllium.
Oat bran is what is removed when you purchase instant oatmeal. Mother’s Oats has the bran still attached. Instant oatmeal does not have as much fiber as an oatmeal that needs to be cooked for a while.
Apple pectin is what makes jelly set up. It is quite gelatinous and very soothing. When you add psyllium seed hulls, Oat bran fiber and Apple pectin together you get Nature’s Three. A dietary fiber that makes sense!
Add it to pancake mixes, waffles and even the blended egg wash for French toast for added fiber. You can find a lot of ways to add more of this delicious fiber to your diet. Taking it with Thai Go is also a beneficial way to help the colon stay healthy.
Make sure that when you do take a fiber supplement you don’t take it at the same time as you take your Omega oil supplement. Fiber attracks oil and that is why it is so good in reducing cholesterol. But, when taking an Omega supplement you want to make sure you take it with a meal and perhaps some enzymes to get the best use of it.
